The negative reviews here I'm beginning to think are other restaurant owners with a vendetta. I've gone here for 10+ years to the same location, the waitresses have always been kind and professional and the food has been consistent from as far back as I can remember. Have they gotten the sauce wrong? Yeah, maybe like 3 times in all my years, things happen; that's about as 'negative' as my experience gets with El Rosal.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants, the food has consistently been fresh and satisfying. If I ever come back to California, I'll definitely be swinging by here.

Service was good and food was prompt. The problem for someone who wants zesty, rich and optionally Habanero hot Mexican food in Modesto is you simply can't find it. This place had very bland food. May have been a hit if you are a senior citizen and like 1970's style food, but definitely not worth the price. Honestly, and I am not really a fan, you could find more fresh, hot and zesty at Chevy's or El Torito.
